This has been a better day. It started last night which was the best sleep I have had since the operation. Well I am sure you all know that trying for a decent night's sleep in hospital is virtually impossible.
Food wise, Ev has come up with the brilliant idea of smaller portions. I don't want anyone to think that I have had lots to eat on my plate but clearly not having the discomfort of food lodging at the back of the throat would be a bonus. As a result I have found meals less of a trial. I am also aware that I need to be responsible for ensuring I don't eat too much at one go. Remember though I have only been out of hospital for 8 days and I am very much changing the habits of a life time.
We duly went up to Andrea's house for the day. A big plus point was that I could manage some quite steep stairs well. I did feel a little tired and had an hour's snooze but otherwise I was fine. The weather today was foul, rain and a cold wind but I was still able to go for a short walk.
I keep remembering things from hospital. When you are wired up to a machine they thread the wires through your hospital gown. This is why you need help when washing yourself and when you have a change of gown. I learned the hard way once when I tried to go the loo under my own steam. Anyway whilst I was being intravenously fed, an attractive student nurse was detailed to help me change gowns. When it came however to removing the drip wire from my gown however she found that rather difficult. If there had been a camera watching the two of us trying to prise the wire away from the gown it would have been a prime candidate for You've been framed.
Anyway I am away from all of that now and I can feel a huge improvement in my health. I weighed myself again this morning and have lost 1 pound since Saturday. In other words the rate of weight loss is slowing down.
Onward and upward.
