Day 135

This is it. The decision has been made. I have opted not to have a further three sessions of chemo. As you will have gathered it was not an easy decision. Having had three sessions of chemo before the operation I needed some evidence that having more post op was going to radically increase my survival chances. The more I tought about it the more I came to realise that there was scant evidence one way or the other. In short I could have a recurrence without having more chemo. Equally it seems to me that could occur even if I decided to go ahead. You will all know that I found the treatment difficult. As I have said before if there were more cells present then I would have signed up no matter what. I feel however that in the absence of anything specific I am not willing to have more poison pumped or pilled into me for the next three months for no visible result. I accept that the treatment was offered out of the best intentions but I have exercised my right to say no and live with the consequences.

So now comes the hard part which is to get better as quickly as possible. Number one target is to get rid of the dry cough. Number two is to control the acid reflux. Number there will be to start drivgfing again not I hasten to add because I have any problems with Ev driving me around. Speaking of Ev I would like to thank her for coping with me whilst this decision was being made.

Went to Southampton General today for a post op check up which lasted about 10 minutes. Fully clothed I weigh 95.3 kilos. Doctor very happy with progress. Sadly appointments were running about 50 minutes late. Some things never change.

I shall continue to post here for all to see but please feel free to call or e mail.
