Well we went to see the Oncologist today and frankly the news could be better.
Dr.Cave is something of an open book. This is meant as a complement. It is in fact one of her greatest qualities. It's not only what she says but her body language.
I duly reported on the cough getting worse and the absence of sleep. She examined me and sent me for a chest x ray. This was duly done and I went back to see her. She told us that an abnormality had shown up in the lung area. Before seeing us she had shown the plate to a Radiologist. They both agreed that a CT Scan was in order because that would identify the problem. The Scan is likely to be done in the next few days and we are going back to see Dr. cave on 29 March. To describe this as a blow to the solar plexus is an understatement. Of course it is pointless to speculate until we see her again but her parting shot was to say "I'm sorry."
All we can do is to carry on as normal until such times that somebody says no you can't. In the meantime I have been prescribed some linctus to ease the coughing problem.
I have to say I was impressed with the NHS today. My appointment was at 850. We went in to see Dr. Cave at 840. We were sent for a chest x ray, came back to see her again, handed in the prescription and had a coffee......and we were out by 945. The NHS has many problems but that was as good a service as I think I would have had anywhere.
With apologies for bearing such not good news but please spare thoughts for Ev. She has been brilliant throughout and she is there with me again. I'll go back to daily bulletins promise.
